The veil is lifted on the over 150 people linked to the legal case of Jeffrey Epstein , the American financier who committed suicide in a cell in New York in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking of minors.

Their names were kept secret for years until a judge ruled there was no legal justification to continue keeping them under seal.

The initial tranche includes 40 previously undisclosed documents with nearly 1,000 pages of depositions and statements . Among the names are a series of Epstein associates previously identified as John or Jane Doe in a lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre against the financier's former lover, Ghislaine Maxwell, sentenced to 20 years for recruiting underage victims. Among these also Giuffre herself.

The list of names , which also includes Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Prince Andrew, Michael Jackson and David Copperfield, the former governor of New Mexico Bill Richardson, the technology guru Marvin Minsky, the astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, the French modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel, the American investor Glenn Dubin , has fueled curiosity and speculation but, as the authorities point out, "it is not a list of 'clients' and does not imply any accusation of complicity in Epstein's crimes" .

In detail, the papers contain extracts from the depositions of Ghislaine Maxwell and Virginia Roberts Giuffre . There is also a deposition by Johanna Sjoberg, another young woman who once ended up in Epstein's circle, who tells how Prince Andrew playfully touched her breasts while taking photos.

Sjoberg's story was also known, but this is the first time his testimony has been made public.

Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached an out-of-court settlement in the sexual abuse lawsuit against him , a document filed Tuesday by his lawyers confirms.
