Dramatic migrant shipwreck in the Aegean Sea: 18 dead
A rubber dinghy sinks off the coast of Türkiye, 21 people rescued.

Eighteen migrants aboard a rubber dinghy drowned in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Bodrum , southwestern Turkey, the Turkish coast guard said.
“Following search and rescue operations, 21 undocumented migrants were rescued alive , while the bodies of 18 others were recovered ,” the coast guard said in a statement.
No information on the migrants' nationalities has been provided at this time.
"Operations to ascertain the fate of the missing and search and rescue activities continue," the Coast Guard declared.
Shipwrecks are frequent among vessels attempting the perilous crossing from Türkiye to the Greek islands, the gateway to the European Union.
