«Why wasn't Nicolò Barella there?».

Many asked the question not seeing the Sardinian midfielder, who grew up in Cagliari before joining Inter, at the funeral of Gigi Riva , who died last Monday and to whom all the rossoblù people and beyond gave a truly collective embrace.

An absence which, again on social media, triggered a flurry of comments, many of which were polemical - not to say disrespectful - towards the footballer.

Now the controversy has been quelled by a message posted on his Facebook profile by Nicolò Riva, son of Rombo di Tuono . «Thank you Nicolò Barella, you were close to us right away and you demonstrated a sensitivity even greater than that which many people, not seeing and not knowing, were unable to understand! The Riva family thanks you and appreciates you very much!".

Eloquent words, accompanied by a photo portraying a very young Barella together with the great champion and hero of the legendary 1970 Scudetto.
