The assignment to Volotea of the continuous routes to and from Sardinia lands in the Regional Council. Transport Councilor Giorgio Todde reported on the procedure concluded yesterday and explained that the award took place close to the expiry of the previous continuity because "only on August 30 was the termination of Alitalia formalized".

After that, “the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport subjected the emergency period (October 15 - May 14) to new public service obligations by decree. Only on September 21 did the clearance for the use of resources for coverage arrive ”. Thus, he added, "the procedure could only be active from 22 September: the first did not have any successful bidders, followed by a second completed yesterday with the award of Volotea".

As regards the conditions: "For residents they are the same as those provided for the old continuity". There are also two new features: "The first concerns the reserve of seats on the first flight in the morning and on the last one returning for health reasons, the second is a 30% discount for children between 2 and 12 years old".

As for non-residents, “in the winter season they will be able to enjoy the same rate as residents if they travel for work reasons”. Therefore, the commissioner observed, “in view of the way the EU Commission was positioned towards Sardinia, I believe it is an achievement. In fact, it is a clause that is not present in any European country with public service obligations, but for the workers we have succeeded ”.

Todde also specified that “the ticket sales procedure will take place through the website, the network of agencies and the airport ticket offices. From today you can book. For all concerns, it will be our responsibility to ensure the correct and timely execution of the service according to contractual conditions with constant monitoring ".
