With the fall of the Draghi government, the chambers dissolved and the vote called for September 25th, the electoral campaign has officially begun ( All articles on the crisis ).
FORZA ITALIA - The center-right has already started to move. In these hours a meeting was held in Rome between the leader of the Brothers of Italy Giorgia Meloni and the president of Forza Italia Silvio Berlusconi.
On the occasion, sources of the two parties report, "the two leaders agreed on the need to work, also in agreement with the leader of the League, Matteo Salvini, to convene a center-right summit in the early days of next week, to address the political issues after the dissolution of the chambers and in view of the political elections ".
Berlusconi himself - who liquidated the defections of Mariastella Gelmini, Renato Brunetta and Mara Carfagna with a sharp "Rest in peace" - announced his intention to personally lead the blue campaign towards the vote and to present himself for a seat at the Senate .
"Berlusconi is in great shape, he is like a cricket. And he is certainly a candidate for the Senate. He generally exalts himself in the electoral campaign and this is his ninth election campaign", said his deputy, the national coordinator of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani. Berlusconi should leave the capital over the weekend, probably going to Sardinia, and return to Rome next week.
LEGA - In the Lega home, Matteo Salvini has already entered the electoral climate: the secretary had a face to face videoconference with the party governors to take stock of the political situation and the appointments in view of 25 September.
"The governors - let the League know - are already at work, also to offer useful insights in view of the most interesting dossiers for the electoral campaign, starting with autonomy. Great attention to economy, bureaucracy, infrastructure, energy, development and taxes" .
Salvini has ensured the maximum presence in the territories to the governor of Sardinia Christian Solinas , to the president of Friuli-Venezia Giulia Massimo Fedriga, of Lombardy Attilio Fontana, of the province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti, as well as to the Umbrian Donatella Tesei and the Venetian Luca Zaia.
FDI - "We frankly did not expect to get to the vote on September 25: the death of this government was daring and unexpected but we are ready and in the political panorama Fdi will be the party that least of all will have to explain what it wants to do", he said Giorgia Meloni, leader of the Brothers of Italy.
"Our priorities - he added - our position and posture on how to deal with crises have always been clearly articulated by us in recent years. We just have to reiterate them. Those in difficulty are others who must reinvent themselves a new identity".
THE PD - In the field of the center-left, the Democratic Party is dealing with the end of the horizon of alliance with the 5 Star Movement, which has triggered the beginning of the end for the Draghi government.
"I think that with the parties that have brought down Draghi it is impossible to make electoral alliances in this round," said the secretary of the dem, Enrico Letta.
The dialogue remains open with Leu, but partnerships with the Renzians of Italia Viva and with the action of Carlo Calenda must also be evaluated.
THE CENTER - “The first hypothesis in the next elections - is the scenario painted by Matteo Renzi - is the broader center-left formation if you want to win against the right. Or the Democratic Party decides to do the race alone and we have the space in the center that can go to double digits as was the 2001 Margherita. There the sum gave more than the algebraic operation. And otherwise we will go alone: we already have 200 candidates and the symbol ready and we are convinced that we can take more than 5 percent ”.
DI MAIO - "Beyond the names, what is emerging is an area of national unity that is certainly opposed to Conte and Salvini but also to a right that has bet to bring down this government", he said, for his part Luigi Di Maio, who leads Italians for the future, a new formation born after the break with the 5 Star Movement.
THE M5S - As for the pentastellati, once the "pact" with the Democratic Party has passed, they should once again be part of it for themselves. "We are a progressive force, but not by self-definition," said M5S president Giuseppe Conte. "We are objectively progressive because we look to social justice, the ecological and digital transition, and we certainly have an advanced manifesto of measures in this direction".
“Those who want to work on these measures can find themselves sharing with us, or comparing themselves with us. Then it will be up to the Democratic Party to make its choices ”, concluded Conte.
