A new twist, in court in Nuoro, in the trial for the case of Antonello Mereu, the 24-year-old worker from Dorgali who died while working in a marble quarry in Orosei on 13 March 2014.

In the courtroom - the sentence was awaited today - the lawyer Monica Macciotta, lawyer of the victim's brother (offended party), pleaded the nullity of the hearing due to lack of notifications to her client. For this he urged the return to the preliminary phase, thus allowing the participation in the trial also of the victim's relative, in addition to the parents, civil parties with the lawyer Pietro Salis.

The defense lawyers, Basilio Brodu, Gianfranco Mattana, Fabio Serra, Pasqualino Moi and Giovanni Colli, opposed the objection, considering it unfounded: the monocratic judge Alessandra Pontis asked the prosecutor Francesca Pala to acquire the file of the preliminary hearing and he will pronounce himself in the next hearing on 11 July.

In the dock, accused of manslaughter, Giovanni Mele (owner of the company for which the worker worked), Sergio Floris and Ignazio Masala (two employees). For all, the prosecutor has asked for the acquittal and the transmission of the documents to the prosecutor's office to evaluate the new hypothesis of the crime of intentional homicide. The court experts, in fact, had ruled out a case of white death: "The young worker was killed - this is a passage from the final report - the skull injuries are not compatible with the accident at work ".
