Weapons, drugs and poaching: one arrest and several suspects in the province of Cagliari

A major operation by the Forestry Corps conducted in Pula, Sarroch and Villa San Pietro led to the arrest and registration of several people in the register of suspects , as well as the seizure of clandestine weapons and drugs . Among the possible charges contested are also poaching and receiving stolen archaeological finds .
Checks and searches in homes, agricultural land and boats were carried out as part of an investigation launched by the Pula Forestry Station and coordinated by the Cagliari public prosecutor Daniele Caria .
Multiple territorial, divisional and regional departments of the Forestry Corps were in action, with the support of two canine units of the Guardia di Finanza.
During the inspections , a total of 7 rifles, a pistol, approximately 5,000 cartridges of various calibers, two 7.62 mm caliber ammunition and an explosive mechanism were found and seized.
Also recovered was more than half a kilo of cocaine, as well as hashish, cannabis, precision scales and material for preparing and packaging the doses and cash, probably the result of illegal trafficking.
The Forestry Department also seized nets for bird trapping, steel cables for capturing ungulates, snap traps, camera traps, and several kilograms of wild boar meat . Some of the suspects were also found in possession – illegally – of archaeological finds, a total of 13 artefacts including Roman amphorae and fragments of other finds.
At the end of the operation , a man from Villa San Pietro was arrested for the crime of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing and was then taken to Uta prison.
The position of the other people under investigation is currently being examined by the Judicial Authority , which will evaluate the seized material and the evidence collected to decide on any precautionary measures .
