"Intimidating or destructive acts will not stop our commitment to Cagliari." Mayor Massimo Zedda condemns the series of vandalism that have occurred in the capital in recent days: the arson attack in the StraKrash neighborhood center in via Brianza in Is Mirrionis , the thefts in municipal offices in via Po and the vandalism in a toilet in Poetto. In addition to inspections of the affected facilities, investigations are still underway to identify those responsible.

The City Council and the Town Council express deep dismay and regret for vile and unacceptable actions, renewing their commitment to build a more just, cohesive and supportive city. "These episodes of petty crime must be eradicated and condemned firmly and without delay", said Mayor Zedda. " The City needs support to guarantee the safety of its citizens, to ensure and protect urban decorum . The city, its assets, monuments and services, in most cases free, must be respected. The dialogue with the police, the police headquarters and the prefect is constant, so I hope for a joint table as soon as possible to carry out greater controls in each neighborhood".

The main problems concern the StraKrash Neighborhood Center, which is completely unusable after the arson attack. It is a community support center, a point of reference for many families in Cagliari. This is why, the administration announces, «the Health and Well-being and Public Education departments are working immediately to identify an alternative neighborhood space to ensure the continuation of activities». In Poetto, however, it is the second time that the door of toilet number 2 has been torn off. The Municipality will have to pay for the damages, with further public spending .

"It is necessary to intensify prevention and social-healthcare assistance activities," comments Zedda. "Finally, find shared solutions to avoid withdrawals from municipal coffers, already in difficulty, which could be used for many other improvements and additional services ."
