We wanted to discuss the flaws and inconsistencies in the Solare tender and find a solution, but this was impossible due to the arrogance of the councilor, who walked out of the meeting she had called, slamming the door and making disrespectful and inappropriate statements .

There's a clash between Desirè Manca, the Labor Councilor, and tourism industry entrepreneurs . Last night, a meeting at the Department's headquarters with FIPE and Federalberghi ended in a brawl : "In the Sardinian Workers' House, we felt like unwelcome guests," reads a statement from the association representing Sardinian hoteliers.

The point of contention is the Solare tender , issued by the same department, which provides subsidies to tourism sector businesses for hiring under-35s and unemployed people over 35. The tender was launched late, Federalberghi emphasizes, with the notice published on June 26th and the deadline for submitting applications scheduled for July 17th and 18th, already in the middle of the tourist season . Furthermore, the tender "presents countless critical issues and inconsistencies that lead to bureaucracy and extended deadlines ."

A measure that businesses in the sector consider strategic and that they wanted to "correct," presenting all the critical issues to the councilor. The first meeting was on July 8th, explains Paolo Manca , president of Federalberghi Sardegna: "We reported to her and her staff the difficulties expressed by the operators, asking if an extension until September was possible. During the meeting, the councilor expressed her willingness, but the subsequent official communication envisaged a one-week extension, to July 23rd and 24th ."

In subsequent discussions , "the councilor confirmed the postponement until September," then in official communications from the department, "a bitter surprise" for entrepreneurs. Only the deadline for submitting applications was extended, not the "Click Day" deadline .

"This is a mockery," thunders Federalberghi, "because in all previous years , the funding for the tender has been exhausted in just a few hours. Given the importance this tender could have for the sector, we took care to inform President Todde ."

Desirè Manca must not have appreciated this, given that yesterday "he started the meeting with an accusatory spirit and then refused to accept the confrontation and abruptly ended the meeting, refusing to listen to us because 'you are at my house here' and treating us unpleasantly, in true caste style."

The regional president of Federalberghi was shocked: "A meeting with an unexpected and unpleasant outcome, which leaves no room for doubt regarding the regional councilor for Labor's total refusal to engage in dialogue, discussion, and listening ."

THE NOTICE

The companies asked for the tender deadline to be extended to September, given the delay in publication and the timing of the click day, which was in the middle of the tourist season.

Emanuele Frongia, regional president of Fipe , goes into the merits of the measure: «A tender that is meant to incentivize hiring cannot be announced in the middle of summer when workers and companies are at their busiest , and not even the 2023 salaries have been paid yet. Not only that, the months of July and August are excluded from the incentives , which creates fatal damage, especially for the youngest».

Furthermore, the "excessive bureaucratic red tape introduced this year" makes the call "inadequate and distorts its purpose of supporting employment." Then comes the frontal attack on Desirè Manca: "Labor policies in Sardinia deserve leadership capable of welcoming, listening, and responding to the needs of those who every day run companies that employ tens of thousands of Sardinians, without arrogance and without forgetting the commitments they have made. The councilor should remember that she holds public office, and this means working for the general interest and not feeling like a 'master' in the home of all Sardinians ."

The regional president of Federalberghi reiterates his hope that President Todde herself "will take charge of this island's tourism policies, a sector that contributes like no other to Sardinia's GDP." In other words: Manca is inadequate, Todde should take charge.
