The entrance hall of the Port Authority of Cagliari has already worn the afternoon mode when the commander himself signs the first military "turnaround" on the coasts of Sardinia. It is 14.4 minutes on the first Monday after the Cagliari invasion of warships . They will never say it, let alone admit it. In reality, however, the provision that starts from the top of the Defense is the first sign of failure in an unprecedented operation, in terms of intrusiveness and timing. The back all lands in the protocol of the Capitaneria of Cagliari when the evening is already reaching the night. In fact, the offices in Piazza Deffenu do not even see it. They notice it the next day. It is from that moment that the maneuver has taken place to lift the prohibitions in an imposing stretch of coast prohibited since the days before the order of the "checkmate" to Sardinia.

Mine message

The message comes directly from the “Mine Countermeasures Forces Command”, the “Maricodrag”. The request is explicit: abrogation of the prohibitions in the areas identified as Alfa and Bravo. The same ones that not even seven days ago had been banned from fishing, bathing, navigation and mooring with a lot of "immediate effect" until next May 27. With the same non-existent notice of the imposition of limits, the Harbor Office disposes, with immediate effect, the revocation of those provisions on the western front of the coast of the island. The state dispatch frees all the stretches of coast in front of Sant'Antioco and Porto Pino, with those enchanted beaches already equipped with umbrellas and deck chairs.

Revocation classified

The motivation for the revocation of that prohibition in front of the Coaquaddus, Maladroxia and Porto Pineddu beaches, is lapidary: "interdictions canceled due to ceased need". As if to say, don't ask us anything else. What the needs are is a state secret. Certainly this umpteenth ordinance confirms that the military programming runs daily given that in the same Alfa and Bravo areas, according to the previous ordinance of last May 5, exercises were scheduled until May 27. A "retreat", one could say in military jargon, given that the pressure of the prohibitions on that stretch of sea was opposed both for the fishing activity, including the Sicilian seafarers, for a few days stationed in the Port of Sant'Antioco, both for that tourist load towards the extraordinary dunes of Porto Pino, an absolute destination even out of season.

Post "Normandy"

A choice to loosen the forbidden areas, confirming 15, but revoking 2, those directly facing the front opposite the "forbidden peninsula", the one that was the recipient, in the last hours, of the "Normandy style" assault, complete with a preventive attack mortar and cannonade from the sea. Once the front of Sant'Anna Arresi and Sant'Antioco has been freed, the ordinance confirms, however, all the rest. And, in fact, the siege from Teulada to the Gulf of Angels has not only not abated, but has become increasingly invasive. And on the beaches, those flanked by ships in war gear, a real revolt of tourists rises, those who have chosen to start the season prematurely, pushed by "Hannibal", the cyclone that has caused temperatures to jump suddenly above 35 degrees.

From the "Madunina" to Tuerredda

The face of the tourist in the golden strip between Teulada and Domus de Maria, in the enchanted beach of Tuerredda, one shot from the war in Sardinia, is that of the Milanese who loves Sardinia out of season. The camera that frames him straight in the face immortalizes the anger that dominates the phlegm of the "Bela Madunina". The slang is that of the Duomo, the effectiveness is that of a bullet: «We arrive here in Sardinia every year at this time to enjoy this paradise. And all of a sudden you see yourself a destroyer out at sea not even 500 meters from the shore ». The tam tam runs: «We were on the beach - says a middle-aged lady, also from beyond the Tyrrhenian Sea. At one point we heard some scary bangs. We have been coming here for many years in this period but it had never happened to us ». From the border with Teulada to the hottest beach of Domus de Maria, Su Giudeu. The scenery is breathtaking. Sublime beach, white expanse, turquoise waters.

Umbrellas and destroyers

A stone's throw from the horizon, destroyers, military assault ships and aircraft carriers. The words are a manifesto for the defense of Sardinia: «We are coming from Milan. Seeing this war situation is not a good thing. Sardinia is a fabulous tourist island par excellence. These images, however, scar her ». The river is in flood: the microphone of the national network that rages on the beaches is a wedding invitation. From Lodi, on the outskirts of Milan, to Cala Cipolla it is an hour of flight and an hour of curves on a breathtaking coast: «We haven't heard of the exercises, we've actually seen them. Yesterday four, five warships all in a row, a stone's throw from the coast. We just came in for a tour and I see all these ships. I love Sardinia. I'm sorry, one arrives here, in heaven, and you see a destroyer out there. I sincerely hope someone will send them away. This is not the place to do this ».

Tourism and prohibitions

The attack is frontal. Pure white and fresh linen shirt. The face is that of an annoyed vacationer: «Here tourists come from Easter and there are bans and restrictions of all kinds. With a destroyer stationed in front of it. They create fear and we were afraid. I think they have abused their power. " The gaze is lost in that horizon of war in Sardinia. The coastal scenery is chilling. It is not the Black Sea. It is the turquoise paradise of the island of Sardinia. A sea occupied by war games.
