Manslaughter: this is the crime being investigated by the Lanusei Public Prosecutor's Office, currently against unknown persons, for the death of Anna Laura Pilia, the 10-year-old girl from Tortolì who drowned two days ago in the waters of the port of Arbatax during a sailing lesson.

The cause of death was ascertained by the autopsy concluded late yesterday evening at the hospital in Lanusei, carried out by the coroner Michela Laurenzo. The examination, ordered by the Lanusei PM, Giovanna Morra, as anticipated yesterday, did not identify any lesions or wounds, which could have been caused by the capsizing of the boat and which would have caused the little girl to lose consciousness.

The child would have remained trapped inside the hull after capsizing: her lungs would have filled with water, leaving no escape. The investigations have been delegated to the military of the Coast Guard of Arbatax to ascertain any responsibilities for the death of the child, which has shocked the entire local community.

Investigators are working to ascertain whether the safety measures by the Nautical Club and the rescue times were respected.
