Both travelers were therefore sanctioned , for a sum between 5 and 15% of the amount exceeding the limit.
"In the first operation - explains a note from the Customs Agency -, the control activities were supported by the canine unit of the Guardia di Finanza which made it possible to identify an Italian citizen who, returning from Spain , declared to bring with him 9,900 euros as proceeds from visits to Iberian casinos while, from a more careful check, 18,000 euros emerged, half of which undeclared ".
"In the second operation - continues the Agency - an Italian restaurateur residing in Switzerland ended up in the sights of the Customs Officers and the Guardia di Finanza, who declared that he was bringing around 3,000 euros with him 'forgetting' that he was in possession of an additional 18,260 euros , found during the control activities on hand baggage ".
