A "figure" has been identified on the seabed off Santa Maria Navarrese: it could be the fishing vessel Luigino, which sank on February 11th, taking the lives of Captain Antonio Morlè, 53, and Enrico Piras, 63, who was aboard to help out on a fishing trip. Their bodies have not yet been found. They were both from Tortolì.
The wreck may have been located by the Coast Guard using side-scan sonar, which scans the seabed by emitting acoustic waves: it is located about a hundred meters south of the sinking site. However, further investigations will be necessary to be certain.
However, the operations conducted by the Cagliari Coast Guard are made difficult by strong sea currents, which hinder the divers.
