The case of Ilaria Salis, the 39 year old teacher who lives in Milan, but her roots are Sardinian, her father Roberto is originally from Cagliari. Since last February he has been in prison in Budapest , a maximum security prison, accused of having attacked two neo-Nazis , who suffered injuries that could be healed in a few days, during the Day of Honor in which supporters of the Hitlerian ideology. For a few months the family has been able to meet Ilaria in the penitentiary. The prison regime is very harsh.

Ilaria Salis risks being sentenced to 16 years . The Hungarian court offered her a criminal plea deal, 11 years, which she refused. The father asks the Government to intervene to protect his daughter's rights. Also in light of the case of another Italian, blocked in Milan on a European arrest warrant, for the same facts and with the same accusation, but for him the Italian judges denied the extradition requested by the Hungarian judicial authority «arguing that there is no there is a proportion between the request and the crime of which he is accused".

Appeal to the Government. Roberto Salis wrote twice to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, to the Ministers of Justice and Foreign Affairs, and to the Presidents of the Chamber and Senate. «I have not received any answers. The Government evidently has other priorities», he tells us. Meanwhile, a committee was created, which received the support of Senator Ilaria Cucchi, to raise public awareness of Ilaria's current conditions and to bring her home as quickly as possible.
