Confessed Fulvio Baule, 40, from Ploaghe, a bricklayer. He is the murderer of the father-in-law Basilio Saladino, a retired policeman. But he also seriously injured his mother-in-law, whose life hangs by a thread, and his wife Ilaria, also in very delicate conditions. Both are located in the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari.

The tragic event at 8:45 pm last night in Porto Torres, in via Principessa Giovanna. At the end of a family quarrel (Fulvio Baule and Ilaria Saladino had been separated for months, with 2 1 year old twins) Baule lost his head and with an ax, in the street, hit his father-in-law Basilio Saladino in the head, who fell to the ground lifeless in a pool of blood. Then he chased the two women and raged on them. A blind, almost inhuman fury, followed by the flight and the following agitated moments. For Ilaria and her mother the transfer by ambulance to the hospital. Shortly after the murder, Baule handed himself over to the carabinieri, admitting his responsibilities but claiming that "he was first attacked by his father-in-law". Until late at night he remained under interrogation in Porto Torres, also by the magistrate, who left the barracks at 3 am. He was defended by the Sassari lawyer Nicola Lucchi.

In Ploaghe the news of the murder spread in a flash. His friends and acquaintances say in unison "they are amazed at what happened" and that "Fulvio was a good person, who never created problems." The fact is that in a few minutes Baule was transformed into a ferocious beast. Porto Torres, a city battered by an unprecedented economic crisis, is in shock.No one remembers such a brutal episode of blood.
