Suddenly, one less family doctor. It happened in Vilanovaforru , where patients of one of the town's two doctors found a sign posted at the entrance to the clinic: the facility would be closed, as ordered by the local health authority, "due to a lack of hygiene standards necessary for carrying out work." A decision that took everyone by surprise and sparked a reaction from Mayor Maurizio Onnis.
"We're very fortunate to have two family doctors working steadily in Villanovaforru," he wrote on Facebook. "It's a shame that one of the two practices is owned by the local health authority and was closed by the same authority due to a lack of hygiene and sanitation standards. So, if I understand correctly, the company is blaming itself ."
The mayor recalls that the critical issues with the premises have been known for some time. For this reason, he explains, the municipality had repeatedly requested intervention from the health authority , even requesting a loan for the building so it could carry out the work itself.
Now, however, an immediate solution is needed . "Starting Monday, we will make municipal space available to the doctor, likely in the Town Hall," Onnis announced, with the aim of allowing the resumption of activity and minimizing inconvenience to patients.
