With the arrival of the summer season , as happens during the Christmas and Easter holidays , it is increasingly difficult to reach or leave Sardinia. The problem at the root of the unease is the cost of flights and ferries which increases in "a vertiginous and unjustified way" . And the deputy Francesca Ghirra presented a question for immediate answer in the Transport Commission of the Chamber .

« Territorial continuity should allow us substantial equality with respect to the other regions of Italy, but unfortunately this is not the case at all – affirms Ghirra -. As the summer season approaches, the airlines and shipping companies that manage the Sardinian territorial continuity system take advantage of the requests to increase the cost of the routes disproportionately".

"Despite the expansion of the routes agreed with the airlines in the meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee - continues the deputy -, nothing has been done for the fares, which are still unjustifiably exorbitant : we are faced with record increases , ranging from 30 to 50 % , despite the fact that the price of jet fuel has dropped by an average of 35% in recent weeks. Even the increases in the maritime tariffs are completely uncontrolled and subject to speculation unrelated to the cost of fuels".

«The efforts put in place by the Ministry of Transport and announced today by Undersecretary Ferrante are completely inadequate to guarantee the principle of free movement envisaged by European legislation. Sardinia already pays a very high price due to the enormous infrastructural gap that characterizes internal transport , greater effort is needed to define a system of territorial continuity that meets the needs of Sardinians and those who want or need to go to Sardinia», concludes Ghirra, for which "the Government must ensure adequate investments, on a par with what other European states do with their own islands, and give practical effect to the principle of insularity".
