Few problems in the night in Cagliari, after a day marked by strong winds and an orange weather alert. Storm Gabri, which hit Sardinia, leading the Civil Protection to issue a warning especially for the eastern part of the island , has spared the capital for the moment.
After yesterday afternoon, when fallen trees were reported (in particular one in via Pessina) and some damaged cars (one in via Dante) , the night just gone by saw few reports of critical issues in Cagliari and a situation under control. The firefighters had to intervene in some situations, especially for trees and poles in danger, but it did not go beyond a few broken branches . No damage to people or things was reported.
In addition, traffic has been regular so far and without storm surges on state road 195 , one of the arteries reported at risk by the Municipality of Cagliari and the Civil Protection. During the night, the strong wind continued in the capital with light rain in the early hours of Saturday , but the situation did not worsen significantly.
The risks related to bad weather are certainly not over: the warning issued yesterday by the Civil Protection continues, for the whole day today, the orange weather alert for hydrogeological risk in Cagliari and Campidano. Rain is expected during the afternoon and evening . Mayor Massimo Zedda, as per yesterday's communication, has ordered the closure of the city parks and cemeteries and warned to exercise maximum caution, with particular attention to Pirri. Warning also in force for today .
