Two statues of the Stintino nativity scene have disappeared, stolen by someone who had organized the raid. The discovery was made yesterday morning by the workers who resumed work to arrange the various statues.

It is a golden eagle and a black lamb that had been placed in the life-size nativity scene being set up in the streets and squares of the town. The eagle was in Piazzetta Segni, the lamb in Largo Cala d'Oliva.

The mayor Antonio Diana and the councilor for culture Francesca Demontis filed a complaint with the carabinieri.

"A cowardly gesture, to be strongly stigmatized - says Diana - because this theft is a real damage for the entire Stintinese community. We are talking about unique pieces, made and decorated by hand, which certainly cannot be exhibited in the garden without being The country that has 'adopted' those statues and then donated them to the association 'Il Tempo della Memoria', which for almost ten years has been carrying out the Bethlehem of Europe initiative here in Stintino, is the loser ”.

"I feel a great sense of discouragement and displeasure - adds the commissioner Demontis -. It is a gesture that impoverishes an exhibition that, over the years, has become a real point of reference for the territory of north-west Sardinia. Two statues that had been hand painted by a fellow citizen of ours were taken away. We can say two works of art that the citizens had bought to give them to the same community. let the two statues be found ".
