The sentences of 21 years in prison against Jalal Hassisou and Soufyane El Khedar, the two men of Moroccan nationality who ended up on trial on charges of killing Zeneb Badir, have been confirmed by the Assize Court of Appeal of Sassari. , their 34-year-old compatriot.

The crime took place on 23 July 2018, at the end of a brutal beating that took place in a sheepfold between Arzachena and Baja Sardinia.

The judges accepted the request of the Attorney General Maria Gabriella Pintus, which was joined by the plaintiff lawyer Damaso Ragnedda, who represents the three minor daughters of the victim. While the defense lawyers, Agostinangelo Marras for El Khedar and Cristina Cherchi for Hassissou, had fought for acquittal for various reasons: for Marras, his client had not participated in the beating, on the contrary he had tried to stop his compatriot. For Cherchi, Hassissou had to be acquitted of the charge of voluntary murder, a crime to be classified, if anything, in manslaughter.

The 34-year-old, a friend of the two accused, had been beaten to death and left for hours agonizing in the stazzo, before being accompanied to the medical guard in Arzachena and finally to the hospital in Olbia, where however she had already arrived in a coma. They had both told the doctors and the carabinieri that the injuries had been caused by a fall. Then, El Khedar had confessed, declaring that he had only witnessed the beating and, indeed, that he had tried in vain to stop his friend.
