The two autopsies on the bodies of the couple found dead last night in their home on Via Ghibli in Cagliari were concluded this evening. The examination carried out at Brotzu confirmed that it was not a violent death . To clarify with certainty the causes of death of Luigi Gulisano , 79 years old, originally from the province of Catania and a retired salesman, and his wife, Marisa Dessì , from Cagliari, three years older, we will have to wait for the results of the toxicological and histological tests. The hypotheses of illness (first of one of the two and then of the other), food poisoning or intoxication by some substance remain standing.
The tragedy that occurred in the Quartiere del Sole was discovered by one of the couple's two children : he couldn't get in touch with his parents so he went to his parents' house, finding the lifeless bodies of his father and mother. They were on the floor of the room used as a study, one next to the other . The intervention of the 118 personnel was useless. The investigations of the Carabinieri of the San Bartolomeo station and the operational unit of the Cagliari company were immediate. The inspection highlighted the absence of particular signs on the entrance door or disorder in the house. The coroner who intervened for an initial assessment ruled out wounds or signs on the bodies that could suggest the action of third parties. The apartment was placed under seizure .
Today the autopsy, ordered by the magistrate Rossana Allieri, carried out by the coroner Roberto Demontis, by the pathologist Giorgia Locci in the presence of the toxicologist Giampiero Cortis. The examination has not yet allowed to establish with certainty the causes of death of the spouses. We must await the results of the toxicological and histological tests . Food poisoning is also a hypothesis that remains standing: the elderly had collected mushrooms last Sunday and could have eaten them between Wednesday and yesterday . The desperation and pain of the two children and many relatives remains: the couple was planning the celebrations for Christmas.
