In Siniscola, alarm has been raised over attempted scams targeting residents. In recent days, several residents have received calls from the number 350 888 9021 from people impersonating municipal employees, asking for wire transfers for alleged IMU (Property Tax) refunds or tax refunds.
"This is a scam," warns Mayor Gian Luigi Farris, emphasizing that municipal offices never request payments or bank transfers via phone calls or private messages. Official communications, he explains, are made exclusively via certified email (PEC), regular mail, or directly at municipal offices.
The mayor urges the public to be wary of any suspicious calls and not to provide personal or banking information to strangers, immediately reporting any incident to law enforcement. The municipality has already informed the relevant authorities for investigation.
"We trust in everyone's cooperation to avoid unpleasant consequences," concludes Farris, who also raised the alarm on social media, urging citizens to inform friends, acquaintances, and especially the elderly, who are most exposed to these scams.
