Dead sheep skins on a cart. Or carried as a cloak , with the head resting on the head of a boy who has a blackened face. And also a camel roaming the streets of the festival.

The controversy over the Ovodda Carnival that took place on Ash Wednesday (Mehuris de Lessia) does not subside, and when it comes to going above and beyond, it is second to none.

Needless to say, animal rights activists are the ones who are furious. One of the most active among them is Enrico Rizzi. Yesterday he launched attacks against everyone, including institutions:

"Once again in Sardinia. Bloody dead animals, a poor camel carried around as a trophy", he attacked, "I asked all the parliamentarians who follow my battles in defense of animals, to bring this filth to Parliament. Violations of the law under everyone's eyes: from a health, hygiene, public safety point of view. The resignation of the Prefect of Nuoro and the Police Chief, if they exist, are a must".

This attack having fallen on deaf ears – with those called into question remaining firmly in their places – Rizzi today decided to appeal to the president of the Region, Alessandra Todde: «I wrote to her, asking for an urgent meeting. I hope to receive feedback from her soon», Rizzi hopes, «in the face of these obscenities, we must intervene and quickly because the future of the new generations is at stake».

The response from those who make a living from sheep is not long in coming: Nenneddu Sanna, a breeder from Orune, intervened. And he doesn't mince his words.
