Continue i check of the local Police of Sassari on the roads of the territory, with the aim of reducing accidents and making the population aware of the importance, for safety purposes, of respecting the driving rules.

Unfortunately, the data speak for themselves : from January to July , 794 road accidents were recorded , of which 233 with injuries and seven with fatal consequences , often caused by the effect of alcohol and drugs while driving. In the same period, the local police reported 29 accidents with drivers in a state of psycho-physical impairment due to alcohol abuse, seven due to the consumption of psychotropic substances/drugs, eighteen with escape and hit-and-run.

Furthermore, in 2023 there were 255 violations ascertained for the use of a mobile phone while driving . Even more alarming is that relating to the failure to use seat belts and restraint systems for minors transported in vehicles: 203 offenses have been ascertained.

And then the excess speed : the road checks carried out on the urban roads of the area from January to July made it possible to ascertain over 300 violations and to withdraw 15 driving licenses for exceeding the speed limits by more than 40 km/h, in some cases over 60 km/h. The Buddi Buddi (connection road to the Platamona coast) is confirmed as the road with the highest number of transgressive conducts.

CONTROLS - With the beginning of August, the local police command has therefore intensified its control actions: from today and until 24 September, the telelaser will be positioned on the SS 200 (Sassari-Sorso), SP 18 Bancali, SP 42 Campanedda, via de Martini, via Domenico Millelire, via Prati, via Budapest, via Predda Niedda, via Buddi Buddi, viale Porto Torres, in Ottava (ex. SS131), on the ex SS291 Sassari-Fertilia and in via Caniga.

The activities fall within the scope of the transparency operation , which in addition to an increase in controls with particular attention to the roads that register the highest levels of accidents, provides for education and awareness-raising activities of the Command in the schools of the area.
