According to the Carabinieri investigators , Rosanna Pilloni may have died in January 2023. The 78-year-old from Sarroch was allegedly kept in the freezer of her home for over a year and a half by her 54-year-old son Sandro Mallus, who in the meantime continued to regularly receive his pension .

To be certain, we will have to wait for the autopsy to be performed , which yesterday the deputy public prosecutor of Cagliari, Giangiacomo Pilia, entrusted to the coroner Roberto Demontis: the consultant will need at least four days to defrost the body , so as to avoid the tissues being compromised.

In the meantime, the public prosecutor has opened the case with the hypothesis of concealment of a corpse and aggravated fraud . And in the assignment given to the coroner, the magistrate has asked that both the causes of death and the exact date of death be ascertained.

Meanwhile in Sarroch the community remains in shock over what happened.

And Sandro Mallus' brother, Andrea, from Ireland, specifies: « I will never forgive my brother for what he did . I only hope that mum really did die of natural causes».
