The appeals for the arrival of Cuban doctors on the island had already started last summer, when the SOS Barbagia-Mandrolisai committee wrote to the regional health councilor Carlo Doria calling for a solution to the staffing shortages.

Message received by Doria, who had already decided in May to open up to the recruitment of foreign doctors and nurses.

Recently, in the Cuban embassy in Rome, the meeting between Doria himself, ambassador Mirta Granda Averhoff and the Minister of Health of the Caribbean country Jose Angel Portal Miranda, in order to sign the agreement on new specialists for Island . Which will be formalized shortly with the official signatures.

The numbers are important: 128 doctors and 30 nurses will arrive in Sardinia to be allocated to the most critical locations, with a contract until 31 December 2025 with the possibility of renewal.
