An illegal fishing system located near the entrance to the industrial port of Santa Giusta, in the Gulf of Oristano, was discovered and seized by the State Police .

During a patrol, officers from the Police Headquarters' Inland Waters Unit noticed an orange float, without regulatory markings, located a short distance from the green port access light. A more thorough inspection revealed approximately 30 nets, with a total length of approximately 1,500 meters and a height of approximately 1.5 meters, positioned parallel to the pier.

The equipment had been placed in violation of the regulations, was not equipped with the required signs and was positioned at an inadmissible distance from the port entrance, also causing a concrete danger to navigation safety , given the possible interference with the entry and exit maneuvers of vessels in the port.

The crew then removed the nets and threw the trapped fish back into the sea. Investigations are underway to identify the owner of the nets, who has not yet been identified.
