A 29-year-old worker, resident of San Vito, was arrested overnight by Carabinieri officers from the local station on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. The operation is part of targeted enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking in the Cagliari hinterland.

The young man was stopped on Via Torino during a routine traffic stop. His nervous behavior aroused the suspicions of the officers, who decided to conduct a personal search and search of his vehicle. Inside, they found four homemade cigarettes containing marijuana.

The discovery prompted the Carabinieri to extend their searches to the young man's home , where they discovered a much larger quantity: approximately 265 grams of marijuana, 2.5 grams of hashish, two precision scales, packaging materials, and €1,150 in cash, a sum investigators believe to be linked to drug dealing. All the material was seized.

The 29-year-old was taken to the police station and held pending a fast-track hearing, scheduled for this morning at the Cagliari Courthouse.
