Avoid the repetition of the terrible flood of November 18, 2013 when the exit from the banks of the Malu stream flooded the artisan area of the town and the houses near the watercourse. Thus the Municipality has made available about 170 thousand for the cleaning of the canals that fall within the territory of San Gavino as remarked by the councilor for the environment Libero Lai: «As an administration we have undertaken an important economic commitment as every year to avert the risk of new floods that could endanger people's lives and bring local businesses to their knees. With these funds, canals such as the Pardu stream, the Malu stream, the S'Arrideli stream, Bruncu Fenugu, the Marianna Garau stream, the Maria Maddalena stream, a stretch of the Seddanus stream and others will be cleaned».

The timing of the intervention should be rapid and the junta is already at work for this: «With an agreement - adds the councilor Libero Lai - a first part of the sums will be disbursed to the reclamation consortium. Some private companies will also be involved later. The works will start from the areas most at risk and therefore from the Pip artisan area , production settlement plan, and we hope that the start will be very soon. We will also intervene in the section of the canal near the dairy, partially obstructed by shrubs . With the interventions made in recent years we have contained, despite the heavy rains, the risk of flooding. The safety of our citizens will always come first."

Thus the Municipality wants to avoid the recurrence of atmospheric phenomena that have already caused considerable damage to businesses and private homes of citizens in the past: in 2008 heavy rains flooded the lower part of via Roma close to the old railway station.
