Saccargia, the dream of a modern Pratobello

The wind turbines dominate the teeming proscenium of the imposing Basilica of Saccargia. The sun has softened, as if on purpose the wind has stopped, as if a divine hand had forced it to stop at the height of Florinas. Those that stand on the promontories of Logudoro are "the electric poles" that Totò Riina, the boss of bosses, contested against the last of the godfathers, Matteo Messina Denaro who had left his fingerprints in that wind power proscenium.
The moon of Carloforte
There are those who got up when the moon had just begun to illuminate the waters that have always surrounded the Island of San Pietro, the opposite side of the crossroads between Gallura and Sassarese. When the first buses leave the Carlo Felice Central Headquarters in Nuoro, we understand that the long march of the Sardinians has begun everywhere. From the depths of Sulcis, from Nuraxi Figus to Sant'Antico, from Portoscuso to Iglesias, passing through the Guspinese, the Marmilla, the Mandrolisai, the Marghine and the Planargia, the Barbagia and the Gallura, the Campidano Alto and Medio.
State silence broken
Everyone in Saccargia, symbol of a revolt that seemed dormant, poorly hidden by state silencers and not only, all potentates intent on canceling that peaceful, but severe awakening, which day after day rises from every corner of the island. For every shovel threatened by the speculators on duty, a committee is born. For every abuse, there corresponds an unexpected leap of conscience and dignity. The reaction, first silent then conscious, is now decisive and growing. It is a leap of pride, that of a people who see their primary asset, their "home", under attack. Only now that the threat is advancing towards the entrance door is it clearer to everyone that in this unique and exclusive land one was born and lives there by divine grace.
Overseas & beyond the Alps
Inveterate predators and speculators, who came from overseas and beyond the Alps, with base supporters and local accomplices, have, instead, decided to put "to fire and sword" every corner of this "promised land", devoted to the role of "natural genius" , transformed through wild and devastating choices into a land of servitude: for weapons, waste and now wind turbines and endless expanses of Chinese panels. An assault plan studied in the safes of the world's investment banks, conceived in European diplomacies, developed in the Palaces of Rome.
Orgosolo Silver
When on the straw-colored proscenium of Saccargia, as soon as the last ear of wheat has been harvested, the quicksilver hair with the "bun" of the austere and elegant women of Orgosolo bursts out, one understands that that day will no longer be just a protest demonstration. Those black dresses worn with masterly elegance, cross with innate pride, that genetically inherited from Pratobello, the variegated colors of this people who marched from every distant ravine of the island to be punctual in front of the symbols of the revolt. There are the kids, with unpredictable and extravagant hairstyles, there are the first and last generations, the grandparents, the fathers, the children and the grandchildren.
Rappers sing the Island
There are rappers, those from Logudoro and Campidano, they sing in Sardinian, they wave the ancient language as an effigy of pride and belonging, translating it into rhythmic, young and modern music that warms the souls of anyone who has chosen to spontaneously reach that stage of music and struggle, thoughts and actions. There is the history of Sardinian independence, faces and men who have marked the modern history of this land, there are university professors, their students, young graduates ready to study the "cause" of life: the defense of their land .
Protagonist women
There are many women, like in Pratobello. Motor and soul of this sprout that began to take root in Saccargia. It seemed impossible in social times to imagine that the protest could leave broadband and spill over for an infinite time, from mid-morning until late evening, in that anti-speculation Woodstock that takes place on that basin of spirituality and landscapes, speculation and protest.
Videolina, for the story
There is the Sardinian TV, the one that historically offers live worldwide coverage of Sant'Efis, the Sartiglia, the Cavalcata and the Redentore. The dozens of Videolina crews could not fail to be there to transmit, as has happened for almost 50 years, the history of this land. Images, music, testimonies, profound and competent, collected by two professionals such as Paola Pilia and Franco Ferrandu, who interpreted the day as it should be: historical and modern, engaging and participatory. It was supposed to be a symbolic day, a historic day it has become. A dress rehearsal of a "new Pratobello", an unthinkable fusion between territories and generations, between knowledge and feelings, sprouts of a new civil conscience of the Sardinian people. To the social data, which emerged bursting from Saccargia, a non-secondary element must be added: the thousands of people who reached that stage yesterday did not have paid buses, they did not enjoy financial support from parties or unions, they were voluntary delegations of spontaneous committees, as such bearers of real and widespread interest.
Fixed points
An indispensable push for a mobilization that has just begun and which, now more than ever, can have the strength to dare, placing, as the committees did yesterday, firm, non-negotiable points, stopping those useless wastes of time that risk jeopardizing the contrast to the invasion. The experts who followed one another with authority on the stage said it loudly, the representatives of the committees punctuated it with a firm voice: there is no time to waste.
The verb “autonomistic”
The "verb" on the platform was univocal: there is no need for transitional rules that would facilitate "speculative sacking", Rome's logic on "suitable areas" is unacceptable, because there are none in Sardinia. For this reason the women and men of the committees shouted it with competence and conviction: an urban planning law is needed immediately to prohibit the destruction. A call that is not only legislative, but which embodies the need for an autonomous territorial government, now more indispensable than ever, in the face of a State that has become an enemy of the Island.
Pratobello, around the corner
A claim based on the observation that the Palaces of Rome have chosen to side with energy speculation, preferring it to the protection of the Sardinian landscape. From Saccargia to Pratobello it's a short step, it's now just around the corner.
