The trial of Ettore Sini will have to be redone .

This evening the Court of Cassation annulled the appeal sentence without referral limited to aggravating circumstances, i.e. having acted for abject reasons which were excluded , for the former prison officer of Bono, 52 years old, convicted of the murder of the ex partner Romina Meloni which took place in Nuoro on 31 March 2019, and for the attempted murder of Gabriele Fois , the victim's new partner, who was seriously injured that day.

Instead, the judges annulled, with referral to the Court of Assizes of Appeal, the sentence regarding the denial, in the previous judgments, of the recognition of the generic extenuating circumstances and any judgment of unbalancing.

Sini, defended by Lorenzo Soro and Pasquale Ramazzotti, already sentenced to life imprisonment in the first instance and on appeal, was charged with premeditated voluntary homicide , attempted murder plus the aggravating circumstance of having committed the murder for abject reasons.
