Too high costs and little economic aid. After ten years of jumps and acrobatics all to be crossed, Riola Sardo says goodbye to the Italian Motocross International . This time the important race will not be held on the municipal circuit Le Dune, in the locality of Is Ariscas , one of the most popular tracks in the world due to its sandy surface. For the town, a significant economic benefit will be missing. The races have always been held between January and February, a period in which there are no tourists. But not only that: the problem related to the management of the circuit still needs to be resolved. The concession expires on December 31st, so today.

Announcing the farewell to the important event is the president of the Motoclub Motor School Riola , and also federal technician, Fulvio Maiorca , who has managed the facility for 17 years: «It is no longer possible to support the race due to the costs - he explains - That's why we haven't even sent the application. It is a race that over the years has made the motorcycle club lose a lot of money. The presence of the paying public, which guarantees our only income, has not been numerous lately. It is not possible to set up an event of this caliber with only our own forces. Without external help it is impossible to rent equipment, pay for fuel, install chemical toilets and much more. We are sorry for all this».

But not only that. Today, December 31, after three extensions by the Municipality, owner of the facility, the management expires. The mayor of Riola Lorenzo Pinna, however, promises: «The offices are working to formulate the new tender. The municipal secretary is dealing with the matter». Meanwhile, Maiorca announces: «Obviously, when the tender is published, hopefully as soon as possible, we will participate. We cannot not do it after having put our soul into the track and 17 years of work».
