Following the mayors' mobilization against the onslaught of renewables , support for the initiative has become bipartisan in Sardinia , with regional councilors and parliamentarians closest to the government also joining in bringing the case to Rome. The general feeling is that "renewable energy measures are going too far and are getting out of hand," and that it's serious that "we continue to plan plants that impact local life without ensuring the real involvement of local communities." This would also have significant implications in terms of reducing the burden on Sardinians on electricity bills.

The very issue of compensation, in general, is not popular with multinationals investing in the area with wind turbines and solar panels . And to date, even with the projects already underway, what the island has received in return is only a handful of jobs.
