A turning point in the story, which started from Sassari but had a national echo, of the young woman who was rejected at the obstetric-gynecological emergency room of the city of Aou because she lacked the result of a molecular swab against Covid and lost the child she was carrying in womb. Now the Sassari Public Prosecutor has asked for the proceedings to be closed.

The investigation was carried out in collaboration with the Nas of the carabinieri and it was revealed that the woman, who tested positive on a pregnancy test on 30 December 2021 and then on 5 January 2022, therefore - clarifies the prosecutor Giovanni Caria - "in conception by a few days ”, on January 8 she went to the emergency room with abdominal pain and blood loss. The doctors had prescribed her to rest and take paracetamol, with instructions to come back in case of aggravation and an ultrasound examination for the following Monday. That same day the losses were even more abundant, "attributed - continues the Prosecutor - later by her gynecologist to menstruation".

Through the technical consultancy it was ascertained that the woman had a pregnancy just begun "and that due to a hypothetical developmental defect of the embryo, the implantation of the same in the endometrium was not completed".

In conclusion, excluding false positives in the tests, "it was clearly a biochemical pregnancy", and therefore not "a pregnancy in the clinical sense, which occurs when the embryo reaches ultrasound visibility and detectable by the relative control" .

The prescriptions by the health personnel, confirmed the technical consultant, proved to be "correct", considering "the clinical visit not essential or indelible".

Finally, all this "excludes a form of responsibility" of health professionals. With regard to the latter, however, another file has been opened - for now against unknown persons - following the serious offenses received by them by telephone.
