Giulia had many dreams, which she was unable to fulfill in life since a malignant tumor took her life at just 10 years old in 2018. One of these dreams was to give children with cancer and their families the opportunity to be welcomed into a home not far from the hospital during the period of treatment in Cagliari.

Eleonora Galia and Alfio Zedda , her parents, are trying to make this dream come true. Through “Il sogno di Giulia”, the association they founded in memory of their daughter, they have started a fundraiser to purchase an apartment capable of hosting the little sick children and their loved ones free of charge .

It will almost certainly be called “Giulia Zedda’s Friends’ Home” . “There are so many families forced to come to Cagliari from all over Sardinia to have their children treated in the oncology and pediatric oncohematology departments of the capital,” says Eleonora Galia. “Most of the time the treatment cycle is very long and therefore they have to stay in Cagliari for a long time, far from their home and dealing with daily expenses . We believe that the families of sick children should have the possibility of finding free accommodation where they can stay for as long as necessary , a place that guarantees warmth and serenity to them and to the children affected by the oncological disease.”

Eleonora and Alfio are testing the waters to understand which apartment might be the most suitable. Most likely it will consist of three bedrooms and furnished with furniture that can make it as welcoming as possible. « We at the association will take care of the purchase, donations are obviously fundamental and since we opened the fundraiser, a lot of them have been arriving . Even a small donation can make the difference in reaching the budget needed to buy the apartment. If any other association wants to give us a hand, they are welcome, but we will continue with our own strength».

For more information and to find out how to donate, you can call Eleonora's mobile number - 3297054693 - or send an email to ‍ilsognodigiuliazedda@gmail.com. The Facebook page Il sogno di Giulia Zedda periodically publishes the state of the art of donations, "we care about transparency", concludes Eleonora Galia .
