10 years of imprisonment requested yesterday in court in Sassari, for the Pandora lodging house affair in Porto Torres .

Three people, the manager of the facility and two workers , are accused of the crime of mistreatment because, according to the prosecution, in 2016 they beat the elderly guests, even slapping them, humiliated them, insulted them and tied them up .

In addition, the indictment states, they had provided them with inadequate food and made them suffer from the cold . Some of the people suffered from Alzheimer's, cognitive dementia, had previous heart attacks and were not self-sufficient .

The prosecutor Andrea Giganti considered the responsibility of the three proven and requested a sentence of 4 years for a 53-year-old woman from Porto Torres, 3 years and 4 months for a 42-year-old woman from Sassari, 2 years and 8 months for a 43-year-old Sicilian.

Maria Carla Sunch and Carlo Manca , civil defense lawyers, have asked for 30 thousand euros for their clients.

Valentina Porcu , another civil party lawyer, recalled the bruises and fourth degree pressure sores found on her client's body , underlining how the accused were responsible for negligence towards the guests by asking for 10 thousand euros in provisional damages.

Lawyer Giuseppe Murineddu , who is defending the 43-year-old, argued that the man should not have been responsible for the healthcare part delegated to another person, and therefore was not guilty of the crimes contested.

Lawyers Gerolamo Pala and Agostinangelo Marras , defenders of the other two defendants, stated that there is no evidence of the accusations made against their clients .

Judge Claudia Sechi adjourned the hearing until June 26 for reruns.
