Expanded joint, sudden braking and chain collision in Is Pontis Paris

A woman was injured in a road accident that occurred along the stretch of Is Pontis Paris, on the descent that connects via delle Serre to Cagliari. The accident involved three cars in a chain reaction.

The main cause appears to have been the sudden slowing down of the first car, due to a gap between the joints of the bridge sections, a gap created as a result of the missing rubber sheaths, which had torn.

A woman was injured in the accident and was taken to the Santissima Trinità in yellow code. The Carabinieri of the Quartu Radiomobile Nucleus intervened on the scene.

The mayor of Quartucciu Pietro Pisu was informed by the Carabinieri about the conditions of the joints along the road that would create a dangerous situation. The mayor assured his immediate intervention by sending a maintenance worker to secure the roadway, so as to avoid its closure.
