Without services, without an information office or even a ticket office . This is how the “Porto Torres Marittima” railway station appears, inaugurated in 2016 but emptied of all the features capable of satisfying the needs of passengers.
«Having intermodal centers, railway, maritime or airport stations without guaranteeing essential services is like having cathedrals in the desert », this is the comment of the regional general secretary of Filt Cgil, Arnaldo Boeddu .
"Unfortunately, even today," the union leader emphasizes, " essential services that are indispensable for those who have to travel by bus or train are still lacking . Bathrooms that can only be used after 7 in the morning, an information office is missing, as is the train ticket office where there continue to be accessibility problems for people with disabilities."
In addition to this, following the inauguration of the Intermodal Centre, which has the function of systematizing all transport services – trains, buses, ships – the bus ticket office, inside the “Nino Pala” maritime station, often opens to the public only in the morning .
"There is a need for passenger services to always be guaranteed," Boeddu concludes, "and for the station to have opening and closing times that correspond to the real needs of citizens and tourists."
The security service is absent at certain times, and the waiting room is often closed . The hygiene worker confirms that in the absence of a toilet, she does not have running water to clean, so she is forced to get water from an external fountain. A sort of ghost train station with few trains and commuters often forced to travel on old and degraded trains.
The station is served by regional trains of FS that connect it with Sassari, Ploaghe, Chilivani and with the southern centers along the Sardinian Backbone.
