There were 766 thousand passengers transited in the first eight months of the year at the maritime port of Porto Torres. A substantial recovery compared to the same period in 2023. From January to August 31, 410 thousand people disembarked at the port of Torres (+2% compared to last year), and 356 thousand departed (+2%).
While the June data of the current year remained constant with 2023, July arrivals recorded a 4 percent increase compared to 2023 with a surge in the month of August that reached a plus 9 percent.
A positive trend according to the data provided by the Port System Authority of the Sea of Sardinia. A growth whose overall trend can be quantified at the end of 2024, when it will be possible to evaluate the flows of both the domestic and international markets.
"Even if it is still premature to anticipate an annual budget, the first eight months of 2024 show a clear sign of recovery compared to 2023 - says Massimo Deiana, president of the AdSP of the Sea of Sardinia - the port of Porto Torres has never lost its strategic role in the Sardinia System and, like all the ports of competence, is subject to physiological traffic fluctuations that reflect the commercial and investment choices on the routes of the shipping companies, but also, not a secondary aspect, the general trend of the economy".
