In recent days, the ASL Gallura reported to the Municipality of Arzachena the suspected poisoning of 2 wild cats in Via Del Galeone, in Porto Cervo ; an event that has caused dismay, indignation and alarm.
The findings were sent to the Laboratory of Anatomo-Histopathology and Animal Genetics of the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Sardinia for toxicological and histological tests. Considering that the presence of poisons and toxic substances in the territory, particularly in the form of bait and morsels - as written in the ordinance signed by the mayor, Roberto Ragnedda - represents a serious risk for the human and animal population and for the environment , the following was ordered: first of all, to "start the remediation of the affected areas through a careful inspection of the area in order to verify the presence of harmful substances and to provide for the removal of any toxic products present".
The mayor then ordered " the opening of an investigation to be carried out in collaboration with the other competent authorities".
The municipal ordinance therefore provides for "intensifying controls aimed at preventing and repressing such illicit behavior" in the area and throughout the municipal territory. It also provides for the installation of signs aimed at indicating the possible presence of poisonous substances in via Del Galeone - Porto Cervo, and in those immediately adjacent until the end of the cleanup operations and in any case for at least ten days.
