Aggravated road injuries: these are the charges against the driver who crashed into a parked car and a garbage compactor last night, running over a passerby, who is now hospitalized in intensive care.

This is a thirty-two year old from Sassari whose situation could worsen because he tested positive for alcohol and the results of further toxicological tests are now awaited. Not only that, due to the new highway code, the sanctions increase, including arrest and suspension of the license.

The accident occurred at 4:00 a.m .: the 32-year-old, driving a Nissan Juke that was not registered to him, sped along the stretch of Corso Vittorio Emanuele between the Teatro Civico and Piazza Mazzotti. He lost control and crashed into a car parked on the right, throwing it onto a garbage truck stopped a few meters behind. A 31-year-old of Pakistani origin who was walking on the sidewalk was crushed in the pile-up and is now hospitalized in intensive care at Sassari hospital.

According to witnesses, at least three people got out of the Nissan and fled on foot. The traffic police, 118 and firefighters arrived on the scene. The pedestrian was taken to the emergency room in serious condition. An hour after the accident, the thirty-two-year-old, accompanied by the lawyer Agostinangelo Marras, spontaneously presented himself at the police station.
