The damage, in the locality of Ped'e Semene, in Chilivani (in the Municipality of Ozieri), of the tombstone of Walter Frau, the Porto Torres carabiniere murdered by criminals, together with his colleague Ciriaco Carru, on the evening of August 16, 1995.

Last night a large piece of tombstone was broken and removed from its seat by unknown persons , only to be placed against a gate of the municipal bowling green, near the Masala sports field. Then in the upper part of the city, about ten kilometers from where the tombstone had been stolen. Beside the plaque itself offensive writings towards the carabinieri. But they are not the only ones to have appeared since last night in Ozieri.

"At the same time, since tonight, at least ten offensive writings have been found throughout the town - says the mayor of Ozieri Marco Murgia -, who in a statement, on behalf of the city council and citizens, strongly condemned the episode".

Furthermore, in one of the writings that appeared on the walls against the carabinieri, reference is made to licenses that would have been withdrawn by the military.

That of Ped'e Semene could therefore prove not only a serious criminal act, but a real retaliation and threat towards the men of the weapon. Which are obviously considering other hypotheses as well.

Roberto Frau, 59, former carabiniere and brother of Walter, is almost speechless. Deeply affected by what happened. "I also learned about these side episodes and the other writings", he comments bitterly. "My brother and all the weapon did not deserve all this. But I am convinced that all Sardinians are against these cowardly gestures that have nothing human at all. This comforts me a little. "
