During the afternoon, the police, coordinated by the Nuoro Public Prosecutor's Office, executed the order replacing Saba's house arrest with pre-trial detention. The measure was allegedly triggered by alleged repeated violations of the precautionary measures Saba had been subjected to since May 12th at his home . According to investigators, the alleged violations necessitated further judicial intervention.

In recent days, the house arrest regime had already been subject to a previous tightening of the statute of limitations ordered by the preliminary investigations judge. The legal case remains in the preliminary investigation phase . As specified by the investigators, the suspects' position will have to be assessed during the eventual trial, and further investigative and evidentiary developments, including in their favor, are not excluded.

The mayor, under investigation for attempted extortion and suspended after the order by which the investigating judge ordered the precautionary measure of house arrest , was re-elected in the municipal elections of 7 and 8 June .
