Fear this morning for a serious accident at work in a marble quarry in Orosei, where a 42-year-old worker, resident in Galtellì but originally from Gadoni, fell into the void from a height of about nine meters, suffering multiple injuries.
The accident occurred around 7:30. The man was engaged in work activities inside the quarry, when - for reasons yet to be ascertained - he lost his balance, falling from a considerable height.
On site, the 118 ambulance, a team of Firefighters, and the Carabinieri of the Siniscola Company, who started the usual investigations. Given the severity of the impact, the helicopter rescue was also activated: the Areus aircraft, which took off from Alghero, transferred the worker to the hospital in Sassari.
The 42-year-old suffered multiple injuries, but – according to doctors – his life is not in danger.
The Carabinieri are now conducting checks to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the incident and to ascertain whether safety measures were respected inside the quarry.
