The increase in crimes in the summer period in the territory of the Province of Oristano was eliminated. This is what emerges from the report of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of the Arborense capital, which disclosed the data of the “Safe Summer 2022” operation in the period between 1 June and the first week of September.

Thefts and robberies, which affect citizenship and create social alarm, have remained on the standards that over the years have earned Oristano the podium in the ranking of the safest provinces in Italy. The current data, compared to the same summer period of 2021, are similar and in some sectors even improving. The Carabinieri checked 13,958 vehicles, identifying 20,233 people. Violations of the Highway Code were 342 in 2021 and 480 in 2022. With regard to violations for drunk driving, which are the main cause of road accidents, 45 fines were raised (in 2021 they were 39) and 5 for driving under the influence of drugs. Forty-two licenses withdrawn in 2021 and 53 in 2022.

The chapter on road accidents detected by the Carabinieri sees 5 fatal accidents with 4 people reported to the judicial authorities and 35 accidents with injuries and 1 person reported.

One kilo of marijuana, 10 grams of cocaine, 5 of heroin and 2 vials of methadone were seized during road checks, with 1 person arrested, 3 reported and 17 reported to the Prefect.

During the summer services, the soldiers of the three companies of the Province were employed, those of Oristano, Mogoro and Ghilarza.
