The passenger on the Rome-Alghero flight, who returned to Sardinia after a trip to South Africa , was infected with the Omicron variant.
For now, only an indiscretion not confirmed by the microbiology laboratory of the Aou of Sassari which, however, yesterday announced that it had identified the first case of Delta Plus infection in Northern Sardinia (the first case in Carbonia two weeks ago).
It is a sixty-year-old resident in Gallura, vaccinated, who contracted the most contagious mutant in Delta abroad. The woman is in quarantine and is fine.
With another case of Delta Plus on the island and the confirmation of Omicron's arrival, the alert of the Region and Ats that yesterday received the news from the laboratory directed by Professor Salvatore Rubino is growing.
The communication was also immediately forwarded to the Istituto Superiore di Sanità which, with the collaboration of the regional reference centers (for Sardinia the laboratories of the Aou of Cagliari and Sassari), is monitoring the diffusion of the variants throughout the country.
