Nuoro is celebrating the visit of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella , to the island this morning to officially inaugurate the Deleddian Year, marking the centenary of the awarding of the Nobel Prize for Literature to the Sardinian writer.

This morning the solemn ceremony at the Eliseo theatre , in the presence of many students from various schools, authorities and representatives of institutions and associations.

At the end, a small delegation composed of the mayor, the president of the Region, the prefect Alessandra Nigro, and the president of the Province Giuseppe Ciccolini, will accompany President Mattarella to the birthplace of Grazia Deledda , in the historic district of San Pietro, for a guided tour of the house museum.
