Nuoro, Andrea Soddu does not have the majority and withdraws the budget

With a last-minute twist , after eight hours of sitting, the mayor of Nuoro, Andrea Soddu, withdraws the point of the budget forecast that was up for vote in the city council .

The decision comes after the majority in the vote on the DUP reached only 9 votes in favour, three against and eleven abstentions .

With a negative vote on the budget , Soddu would have risked rejection and the end of his mandate . Instead, before the vote he decided to withdraw and attempt to reopen it to all the forces of the council.

Immediately, he said at the end of the council meeting, he will start discussions with the other political forces "to verify whether the conditions exist for a new structure" of the majority .

From the opposition, the leader of the PD group, Carlo Prevosto, defines Soddu's decision as " an act of arrogance ".
