The Torre Salinas campsite in Muravera has been sealed off: the Forestry Corps has seized the coastal facility, executing an order issued by the Cagliari Court's investigating judge at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Inspections by Forestry rangers, working with local police officers, date back to last June. They discovered the construction of sixty-one prefabricated mobile homes, permanently anchored to the ground and connected to water, sewer, and electrical systems. They also included four wooden structures serving the campground's activities and two masonry and wood structures used as campground utility rooms. According to the investigations, all of these structures were built without a building permit or landscape design permit.
The Municipality of Muravera had issued an order to demolish the illegal structures. The campground owner partially complied with the order, but only demolished a portion of the illegal structures. The name of the owner, a German woman living in Muravera, was placed under investigation.
The charges currently being charged are construction and landscaping offenses, which carry penalties of up to four years in prison. Illegal subdivision is also being charged: a conviction would result in the confiscation of the structures and land.
