He was working bent over one of the fiber optic manholes at the construction site on Via del Redentore when he was hit by a forklift driven by a colleague.

This is the reconstruction of the tragedy that narrowly avoided this afternoon in Monserrato , where a 49-year-old Spanish worker was seriously injured . The driver of the vehicle was a 42-year-old Portuguese man, who apparently attempted to avoid the impact.

The worker was taken to the Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari with critical condition and is now hospitalized with a critical prognosis. He sustained injuries to his arm and other parts of his body.

The investigation and inspection following the accident were conducted by the Carabinieri of the Quartu Company's Operational and Radiomobile Unit and the military of the Monserrato station under the direction of Lieutenant Davide Revelant and Lieutenant Pierpaolo Sabiu. The Carabinieri have already interviewed witnesses to the accident. The forklift has also been seized.
